This video follows the 56km Course, updated for 2013 with a diversion on the outgoing leg to reduce congestion. The 56km course starts close to the Cape Schank Lighthouse (on the Mornington peninsula, Victoria, Australia) and follows the Two Bays Walking Track, climbing over Arthur’s Seat before dropping steeply into Dromana. The second half returns to Cape Schank the same way but takes the 28km course which avoids the diversion.

The day dawned cool and overcast and stayed pleasant all day (albeit humid!). The course was beautifully marked along with signs indicating every kilometre. Volunteers and runners alike were spectacularly presented with Hawaiian shirts and board shorts bringing a lot of fun and colour to the drab day. Organisation was spectacular and from a runner’s perspective there was little indication that almost 1000 participants showed up for both events.

Results Summary

In the men’s 56k event Mick Donges returned to defend his 2012 course record and win but after fighting it out all race was pipped at the post by Jarad Kohler, finishing 2minutes behind Kohler’s 4:16:41.
